FAQ: Myofascial Therapy

Myofascial Therapy, or MFT as we’ll refer to it, is an anatomically specific form of bodywork that is intended to free fascial adhesions, to reduce pain and restore a joint to a fuller range of motion. It is performed on a table from a medium-low height on an unclothed client, but no oils or lubrication are used.

FAQ: Who will be present when I disrobe?

I will leave the room while you undress, relax onto the table and cover yourself with a clean sheet. While you are disrobing, I will scrub my hands and forearms with soap and hot water.

FAQ: What parts of my body will be massaged?

You and Paul will discuss the desired outcome of your session. This will determine which parts of your body require massage. A typical full body session will include work on your back, arms, legs, feet, hands, head, neck and shoulders.

Paul respects the dignity and modesty of his clients, and understands that each clients’ needs are different with regards to modesty. You can decide upon your level of draping. Generally, though, you will be draped to keep you warm and comfortable. Only the area being worked on will be exposed.

FAQ: Must I be completely undressed?

Most massage and bodywork techniques are traditionally performed with the client unclothed; however, you may decide what amount of clothing to wear for your own comfort. You will be draped during the session. During a Shiatsu or Thai Massage session, you will wear loose, comfortable clothing.
